Saan makakarating ang P50 mo? (Where can your P50 take you?)

Iloilo is definitely this colorful! 💋

Kudos to the creative minds behind all these materials!!

Local educational tour can also be fun and cheaper by the dozen!!
Yes, you heard me just right!

Five MLIS students, three faculties and one little future librarian (later to be delivered for nap time), we set our first adventure to Deped Iloilo City Library Hub wherein we were welcomed warmly by the staff and personnel.
They shared us the current program they are launching – producing additional instructional materials particularly in mother tongue for the teachers and learners. I was overwhelmed seeing and watching the sample entries they got and even more surprised that these were original masterpieces from the teachers themselves. I knew for sure that learning and teaching can be more fun with these materials.
Then we proceed to St. Paul University Library, very salient is the challenge of library space. Yet interviewing the head librarian, I could see in her eyes the passion and commitment of a promising librarian making both ends meet. From her inspiring stories of success and struggle (girl power at its finest!)  librarianship like any other profession required a lot of dealing with people from different walks of life therefore expect the unexpected and still learn to love what you are doing.
After taking lunch, we had a side trip to MOLO Mansion and MOLO Church.
When less is more! Less space though, but more librarian's creativity
Of course Iloilo City local tour was not complete without visiting the provincial library and the Museo Iloilo. As if I was transported back to history, reminiscing the mythical 10 datus of Borneo who landed in Panay Island escaping their wicked sultan (am I correct?) and settle in peace to a new found land. Like those classic fairytales and they live happily ever after.

Finally we visited the school library of Saint Agustin.  Its good to see little chairs, little tables, cabby holes for shoes, toys and life size charts with laughing and playing around - well what can I expect, not a typical sshhhh-library but more on a third-place, a third-space library, a livelier kid-friendly library . Again, another librarian untold story from a one-man personnel librarian - “Working with children was the best experience I had right now. Their innocence and purity of heart was definitely rewarding. I will be transferring to the graduate library soon. There will be big changes definitely.”  But I am pretty much sure, until then this librarian savored the moment while it last…

😉 😉 😉

But wait… There’s more… A surprise birthday bash to our dear Mam Ann! Hihihi!
Everybody knew except her that a brewing surprise was just waiting at KDC.

As we end our day everybody was tired yet everybody was full and satisfied!
Where can your P50 take you?

Resulta ng larawan para sa my fifty peso bill
I am on for another adventure!!
